Der Stahl Schmetterling

Alright, I've waited long enough to post this so HERE IT IS: This here is my entry to Gaia Online's Captain's Cap contest thingamajigger. I call it Der Stahl Schmetterling which means The Steel Butterfly! I uh... I don't speak German so I have no idea if I should have used "der" or "das" or whatever so forgive me if I fucked it up. "orz

We'll know who the finalists are for the contest tomorrow (HOPEFULLY) so if I am indeed a finalist, I'll edit this dev to reflect that. *nods* Welp, looks like I'm not a finalist. Oh well. Life goes on.

EDIT: ASDFGHJKL; HOLD THE PHONE! Okay so... I may not have been a finalist for the Captain's Hat contest, but it looks like they made my hat anyway! (2½ years later, but still!) ERMAGERD YEW GAIZE FFFFFFFFFFF I'm so proud! ;w;

So about this here hat o' mine: Well, I love butterflies so I figure "why not make a butterfly-themed hat!" so I did. XD All of the butterfly wings here are actually based on real butterflies! Er... well, except for that rainbow one obviously. Its shape is based on a real butterfly at least.

The Steel one is based on the White Admiral
The Copper one is based on the Lorquin's Admiral
The Iron one is based on the Gladiator
The Silver one is based on the Rice Paper
And the Gold one is based on the African Monarch

And I drew them ALL BY HAND! It took foreeeeeever but I managed to get the whole thing done and submitted it before the deadline with scant hours to spare! *gasp*

As for that rainbow one (and the little Starmony cameo in the corner there), if you've never played/heard of Robot Unicorn Attack, then clearly you live under a rock. wtf. ಠ_ಠ
Now, the original description I was going to put with my entry went like this:

"The butterfly, while lovely and delicate is also strong and resolved. This tiny creature will travel for thousands of miles to reach its destination, facing harsh weather, predators and little food.

This hat represents that perseverance and strength: Only the strongest will survive and to the victor go the spoils! Besides, who said you can't be tough and look good at the same time? ;D"

Sadly, that went waaaaaaaaaaaaaay over the character limit (which included SPACES wtf) so I had to condense it to this:

"The butterfly is lovely, delicate, strong and resolved. It will travel thousands of miles facing hard times. This hat shows that only the strongest will survive and to the victor go the spoils. Who said you can't be tough and look good too!"

Both descriptions are epic cheese though... but hey. I'm an artist. I never claimed to be a writer too. *shrug*

Oh Ovey! You're so frickin' adorable! I less than three you! <3 Him and Sen are actually really fun to draw, but I didn't do a proper coloring of them (or myself for that matter) because the focus is supposed to be on the HATS. Call me crazy.
